Fresh from the success of last season Atalanta go into the 2019/20 season with huge excitement. The first weekend of the Serie A season is finally here and Atalanta start with a difficult trip to SPAL.

The Stadio Paolo Massa has proved difficult for Atalanta in the past. Our most recent visit in September 2018 saw us lose 2-0 thanks to 2 Andrea Petagna goals.

Thankfully much of the team from last season remains together and with the new signings the trip to SPAL this weekend gives us the perfect chance to get off to a good start in Serie A.

Mister Gasperini has lots of options to chose from ahead of the game. Toloi, Palomino, Masiello, Djimsiti and Skrtel are all fit and ready to play. De Roon and Freuler are expected to start this weekend with Malinovskyi likely to start from the bench.

Papu will lead the side as always however Ilicic is suspended which means we could see the potentially devastating combination of Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel leading the attack.

As mentioned Ilicic is suspended, as is Sportiello. Tim Castange is out with a knee injury.
